sink re-install now theres a leak in the basement

Hey all
I just re-installed a sink in the upstairs of a restaurant.
I went straight from the sink to flexi pipe where the spout from the wall was. There was no leak from either connection i made with the sink or the pipe coming out of the wall. However a couple hours later there was a serious leak in the basement.
not sure what happened.
Any guesses?

clarify

To clarify a bit The faucet was removed and the pipes were not used for a bit. The sink itself as in the basin was in use. I reinstalled the faucet. which was a one piece with two leads that currently go through the marble. The flexi pipe is screwed directly onto the sink lead and the other end is screwed directly onto the water pipe lead.
