Has anyone used these lightweight imitation stone panels? What do you think about them?

Lightweight imitation stone? - Must be a Walmart-type solution.

Definitely a cheap, temporary solution that could end up being as dated as the old prefinished 4x8 sheets of paneling.

If you are dumping or flipping it could work if done right.

How much do you masons charge for stone-by-stone veneer stone and mortar installation per sq.ft?

Is the panels you refer to those used to skirt mobile homes? If so, they must be cut properly in order not to have obvious black lines that make them look goofy. There are scribe lines along the edges of the rock protrusion that can be cut with a jig saw. This will allow you to lay it next to the next piece and have a normal grout line.

while most of the faux stone panels look pretty awful, there are some very good ones out there as well. For the better ones, expect to pay more than for fake concrete stones. Your installation will be a lot easier, and you'll save a ton on labor costs, time, and mess.
