John Deere Tractor 170 won't start when warm

I have a JD model 170 lawn tractor,18 years old, with a 14 hp Kawasaki engine. It starts and runs fine, but after turning it off, will not start again for several hours. It turns over, just won't start. After several hours, or next day, it starts again and runs fine until I shut it off. I've tried restarting after removing gas cap, no help. Possible culprits?
Thanks!

Check the fuel lines and carburetor for dirt and grime. Not the inside but the outside of the lines and carb. Also check that the fuel line is not touching the engine.
My thought is that the hot engine may be boiling the gas, creating a vapor lock.
You could also carefully squirt a little cool water on the fuel lines and carb the next time this happens. If it then starts, it was vapor locking.

It is the coil. There is nothing else that would cause this in a JD.
I have seen this a hundred times.
