Hollow ice cubes?

How does this happen? Pretty basic refrig....GE GTS18HCSWW, factory installed icemaker module. Nothing fancy like ice in the door. But the cubes are coming out hollow. Checked temp. of freezer, indicates 9ºF.

Insufficient water supply is usually the reason for hollow ice cubes. If there's not enough water pressure, water will drizzle into icemaker which ends up making hollow cubes. Check your owner's manual to see if there is a water fill adjustment behind the icemaker cover.

Remove the icemaker and check for a partially frozen fill tube, you can thaw it with a hair dryer.
If ok, swap the rear water solenoid electrical plugs, press the water dispencer for 9 to 14 seconds and see if the icemaker mold fills up. If not, you either have weak water pressure to the water solenoid, or a bad solenoid.
