GE Refridgerator - Intermittent Ice/Water Dispenser Issues - STUMPED!

I have a GE Side by Side (model GSS25TGMF, serial CCLD424686) fridge..

I am having problems with my dispenser.

The ice MAKER works fine. It makes ice with no problems. The dispenser however works intermitently..

Sometimes it will dispense water, sometimes it will dispense ice, sometimes it will dispense one and not the other, and sometimes it will dispense nothing at all.

Sometimes the light above the dispense choice (water, cubed, crushed) will flicker when trying to dispense, sometimes it will stay solid.. Sometimes it will blink in second intervals and not do anything..

Sometimes the light will light up when the arm is pressed and sometimes it will not. Also, sometimes the freezer light will come on when we open the door, sometimes it won't, and sometimes it will flicker..

I have ordered and replaced both the dispenser part that has the electronics and that didn't fix it so I ordered a replacement motherboard for it and that didn't fix the problem either. I am at a total loss as to what it can be. PLEASE HELP! Thanks

PS: I've seen the common problem of frozen water lines and the ice dispenser still working but I do NOT think that is my issue.

Try replacing the door switch for the freezer. I'm pretty sure the dispenser will not work if door is open. If freezer light is not working all the time its possible the contacts in switch are bad. Power for dispenser must be tied into that switch somehow. Worth a shot.

Hi, many GE fridges have this problem. If you call GE costomer relations at 800-386-1215 and ask them about their "free replacement program" they can verify if you're on the list by your model/serial #. They have had a lot of problems with the main control board. They next day air mailed mine and it took 5 min to install myself.
