Kitchen Aid Gas Stove Not Heating

I have a Kitchenaid GAS RANGE Mod. GST307GBS0 that is experiencing insuffucient heat issues after a self cleaning.

When I turn on the bake or broil functions, the oven starts to preheat.

1st, the ignitor turns hot and about 3 minutes later, the gas from the gas burner ignites and turns on. The problem is the flame from the gas burner is very weak and the heat very very slowly goes up but does not get to the set baking temperature.

At the same time, I smell a little bit of gas around the oven area.

My wife is pretty bumbed out for not being able to bake for the kids and I would appreciate your help in fixing this problem.

It's possible you have a malfunctionig gas valve, however the gas valves are usually very reliable. The first thing you need to do is verify the gas pressure to the stove.If tat's ok, you need to take an amerage draw on the gas valve/ignitor circuit. if that's ok, I suggest repalcing the gas valve and ignitor. Is that aluminum foil on the top burners?

Thanks for the response. I did some more checking and realized now that the burner is not turning on. I strongly feel it is the ignitor. I have ordered a new one and hope that will fix it.

Yes, that is foil paper on top. Why do you ask. Is that a bad idea? My wife likes to keep the area around the burners clean.

If the burner is not coming on at all, I agree, it's probably the igniotr. You don't want anything on the cooktop that could potentially block the airflow passages.
