Advice required re:forced air flow-through humidifier installation

Hi there,

I am trying to install my forced air flow through humidifier. The problem I am having is that the way my return duct is placed I only have 8 inches to screw it on - not making it wide enough to install the unit onto.

I can install it on the side of the return air duct. The problem then is that the tube passing from the humidifier to the supply duct will be uneven.

Check out the illustraton on page 2 and you will see what I mean:

My question is: if I install the unit higher than the connection into the supply duct - will the unit not be effective, or will the difference be minimal.

Any advise is appreciates.

Also, jsut to be clear, my unit would be mouted about a foot and a half higher than my furnace, so it's a good angle downward.

Here is a picture

See the return duct is higher up.

What should I do. I got my tools in my hands. That sounded dirty.

That is fine if the unit is higher than the bypass hook up.

On mine, the bypass is going up 3' before i tie into the supply side.

Just make sure the duct has a good air flow.l
