humidifier question

Hello, I have an Aprilaire humidifier model 440 and a York electric furnace model N2AHD14A06C. The humidifier isn't working because it isn't getting power to it. The humidifier is connected to the furnace in the following way: The red wire goes from the selinoid to the (Y) terminal on the furnace terminal panel, the white wire goes from the selinoid to the humidistat and a red wire from the humidistat to the (G) terminal on the furnace terminal panel. With the furnace running, there is NO power at the selinoid or at the (Y) and (G) terminals on the furnace terminal panel. There is a 24 volt transformer mounted just to the right of the furnace terminal panel with 2 black wires connected to it and then running upward into the furnace power supply box, there is also a 3 amp fuse switch mounted between the transformer and the terminal panel. At this point I haven't looked inside the power supply box. The 24 volt transformer has power (24 volts) at the connections. What do I do at this point to determine why there is no power to the humidifier selinoid? Thank you mross

Is this furnace your main heat source, or is there a heat pump tied to this system?

It's wired wrong. Is the humidistat a basic dial type or digital type? (model #?)

Jay,

There is a heat pump connected with the furnace. The humidistat is a basic dial type Aprilaire (not digital) and has just 2 connection terminals when you remove the cover. I haven't used the humidifier for a few years and it used to work fine. No one has changed the wiring as far as I know, although I have had service people work on the furnace since the humidifier has worked. The terminal board inside the furnace has 2 rolls of terminals for a total of 10, and they are marked as follows: 1st row:G O W X Y 2nd row: 66 60 53 B R.

Sincerely

mross

Ok, you want one wire on G, and another wire on B.

But my guts are going to say if it's wired on Y and G now, it may not work.... but I could be wrong.

Jay,

Thanks again for your help. So, with the furnace running, If I put a multy meter on the G and B terminals, I should get a reading of aprox. 24 volts, is that correct? Does it matter which wire goes on the G or B terminal?

"But my guts are going to say if it's wired on Y and G now, it may not work.... but I could be wrong."

Why do you think it may not work?

Sincerely

Correct. "G" is hot when the fan is running, and C is common.

No.

Y and G are "hot" when the A/C is running, and it may burn out the solenoid valve on the humidifier. But, you may be lucky, and no harm are done.
