With the cost in hazardous pickup when a CFL breaks, why would I want to go with a CFL versus an LED?

LOL. You would actually pay for picking up a broken CFL. Get a broom and dustpan and sweep it up and double bag in Ziplock bags.and take to a recycling center. Of course I'd just throw it in the trash can. World is full of things a lot more dangerous the CFLs but all the dire warnings are starting to override common sense. </ opinion>

Um, maybe because striking a match to see if the LED is on is also a hazardous operation?

I like the concept of LED lighting but so far the only real use I have that makes LED cost-effective is for use as night lights. I like a little (okay, a lot) more light than current LEDs produce so I can actually see what I am doing.

What's more, I have had many CFLs burn out over the years but I have never had one break.
