Um, maybe because striking a match to see if the LED is on is also a hazardous operation?
I like the concept of LED lighting but so far the only real use I have that makes LED cost-effective is for use as night lights. I like a little (okay, a lot) more light than current LEDs produce so I can actually see what I am doing.
What's more, I have had many CFLs burn out over the years but I have never had one break.
