Need Help Ceramic or Porcelain?

I bought "Style Selections" Cross Cut Noce tile from Lowes last week, and went in today to get thin set. The box says the tile is Ceramic, but the flooring specialist at Lowes said I needed to buy the much more expensive ($25/bag) thinset for porcelain tiles because my tile is ceramic with a porcelain enamel.

The tile doesn't have a reddish backing like you might expect with ceramic tile, but the box definitely says it is ceramic. Any advice on what type of thinset I need to buy?

The "specialist" has no idea what they are talking about. Porcelain is ceramic, just baked longer.

You can get the $15 bag of Mapei or whatever thinset they got there. Just don't use anything in a bucket.

What are you setting the tile on, a cement slab, cement board, isolation membrane, plywood?
