Stockade Fence Gate

Putting up a stockade fence but need to have a gate. Was thinking of using 1/2 of 8' panel to make a 4' gate. Would that work?? What would be best way to attach gate to post soit swings one way? to create a handle/latch that would work from both sides??

I am interested in the answer to this question as we are looking to install a gate as well.
