Safewatch 3000 - can't delete/create users

Hi Guys,

I'm from Australia. Thanks to this forum I've fixed most of my issues. The only problem I have now, is that I can't add or delete users. I have a Safewatch 3000 panel with a vista 10 box in the roof.

Everywhere says that to change/add a user, you need to enter the master code, 8, user position and then the new code. When I do this, it always changes the master code.

For example, master code is 0205 I key,

0205 8 05 1234

Now, instead of having a user with 0205 and a user 1234 I have 1 user which is 1234.

I am hoping someone has some ideas on this one.

Thanks heaps.

Do you have a SW 3000 or a Vista 10? There is a big difference in the command sequence and abilities. The keypad label isn't important, the motherboard identity is the critical part.

The correct sequence is [master code] + 8 + [user number 3-6 (no leading zero)] + [new code]

Websearch for the user and installer manuals for Vista 10se.

The two systems are _radically_ different.

Thanks Ron,

I've tried that and it doesn't work either. There's no error beeps or anything, just no reaction from the pad at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you _sure_ about your code being the _master_ code?

Could you possibly be trying to use the _installer_ code?

If the code you are trying to use is the same one that accesses programming, then you are using the wrong code.

The installer code sets the master code. The master code sets all other codes.

This all assumes that we are being accurate on your system model (it sounds like your system is made up of salvaged parts)

Sorry. It's the installer code I'm using. I had to get it by powering off and then holding the * and # key after turning back on. The code I was given when I bought the house didn't have access to do anything. I then had to make a couple of changes because I kept getting the check 09 error.

It's been installed by ADT so I would have thought it would be a standard system.

When I enter the code+8+any 2 digit number it displays 20 on the screen so it's going into programming mode.

I'm normally pretty good at this stuff but this one is doing my head in. Just doesn't seem to make sense.

I greatly appreciate your help on this.

You use the _installer_ code to set the _master_ code by entering (in normal run mode) Installer Code + 8 + 2 + 4-digit Master Code.

You set secondary user codes by entering (in normal run mode)
MASTER CODE + 8 + (user #3-6) + NEW CODE

You are jumping into programming most likely because you are trying to put a leading zero in front of the user numbers. On a V-10se there are no 2-digit user numbers. The command to go to program is [installer code] + 8 + 0.

Go here for an installer manual and delete/trash the SW 3000/Vista 20p manual you are trying to use.

What a legend you are. I tried this a few times before and nothing worked. Tonight I've got it working by doing the below. The only difference was this time I waited for the ready light to come on. Once I did that, it worked beautifully.

Thank you very much for your help.
