Cool Vista 20se Pager Characters - *88

If this info exists on the site, I can't find it. I have teminated my contract with ADT and am trying to set up my Safewatch 2000 (Vista 20se) to dial my Verizon cell phone, and leave a numeric page.

Thanks to the great info on this site I have deleted the primary number (*41) and put my cell number in the secondary number (*42), and set the split/dual mode (*49) to 6. The panel is calling my cell number, which is great as long as I have my cell on, but it will not leave a page. In order to go into paging, it needs to dial 5 when it reaches voice mail. I tried putting all fives in the primary subscriber field (*43), but that does not seem to work. Then I stumbled upon a programming field that is not listed in any of the manuals or programming guides (*88, Paging Characters). I did find a reference to this in the Ademco Lynxr manual, but it uses it as a prefix to a 7 digit page (unlike the 10 digit page of the 20se).

When I hit *88 my keypad says "paging chars", and allows me to input up to 16, including pauses and * and #, so I can definitely use this to get into my paging system, but is there any special code I need so that these characters will be sent, do I need to delete my subscriber ID? If this field can be used, this may be helpful to others who are trying to page with the 20se.

Give it a try. If it works, it will work the same way as the Lynx version; it's the keystrokes you need to send after the paging system picks up.

Interesting, that one isn't in either the V20se manual or the SW 2000 manual....

If it is calling 8 times, then you don't have it setup for pager. Do you have a Vista 20se/SW2000, or do you have a Vista 20p/SW3000? The procedures are not interchangeable between the models.

Is it possible to have it just ring twice 8 times seems excessive. Also does the "line grab" last until it has made oll 8 calls and what does the FC on the display mean?

Thanks

As I said above, if it is dialing 8 times, then you have the pager connection setup incorrectly. A pager setup will only dial once. When you answer the call, it stops.

So..you should use *42 then add some numbers to the secondary subs acc? (customer code) for it to ring just once?

Ok, I had to search your prior posts, Kranker, to find out what model you have (no I don't remember individual posts). As I said, the commands vary by system model, so you should indicate your system model when you tag onto the end of an existing thread. You have, apparantly, a SW 2000/Vista 20se.

*41 should be blank
*42 should have you phone number
*48 should be 7 for Contact ID
*49 should be 6, 7, 8, or 9 (depending on what you want the system to call out for)

(for this purpose, the account codes don't matter)
