Exterior Garage Lights Wiring

Greetings:

Need to add/wire two exterior(carraige) garage lights. No pre-wiring exists. I have a lighted ceiling fan in the garage. A switch to control power for the ceiling fan is on the garage wall.

Q? How to I connect the wires from the garage lights to the junction box wiring that connects to the ceing fan? The exterior garage lights will have a dusk to dawn feature- so no daily on/off switching for the garage lights is needed. I do not keep the garage ceiling fan on all the time.

I plan on using 14/2 Romex. I need to drill through concrete block about 8" to expose the wire to the exterior face of the garage (where I will attach the light),

Q? when I run this 8" wire through the concrete do I need to put ina piece of pipe or PVC?

I suggest you buy a book on home wiring and read it cover to cover. Then you will know what you are looking at when you open junction boxes and the like.

You can get books on wiring at home improvement stores or here...

Then buy and learn to use a multimeter.

Greetings:

When I connect wires from my garage lights to a pre-existing box with power can I make the feeds continuously hot?

That depends on how things are wired.

Wiring can be as creative as artists paint paintings! Sometimes there is "always on" power available at a ceiling light fixture and not at the switch, sometimes it is in a junction box and not at the light fixture or switch, sometimes it is at the switch and not at the light fixture.

So you need to learn enough to understand what is what when you remove covers and look at the wiring. Also you should have this basic knowledge before attempting to do any electrical wiring.
