Need Design Ideas for Empty Bathroom Space

We opted not to have a separate bathtub installed when we built 18 years ago, and expanded the linen closet next to it by one foot. Now we have a four foot long space with a 33" deep wall on the linen closet end and a 28" deep 1/2 wall on the other end (separates the empty space from the double vanity).

We don't want to go to the expense to plumb for a bathtub (would have to tear out the linen closet too), but need some ideas to fill the area when we get ready to sell. The space is across from a large shower and has a 1/2 round window at about 5' high.

I'm willing to build a raised platform and maybe tile it to match the floor, but can't figure out what else to do. What would fit in a four foot space

Hi sweir,

I will be glad to suggest some ideas, but usually, the option is match the idas with the style, light, etc. Can you post some pictures of the space?

In order to set an image here follow these easy steps-->
1 - upload your picture to a free online photoalbum like Photobucket or Flickr , for example
2 - Look for the link of your picture (usually, photoalbums provide a "link for a forum" script)
3 - Click the image icon above--> copy the link of your picture--> Presto!!

bathroom

Would it work to add a built in sitting area with storage underneath. It's hard to picture, but that would be functional and decorative and not cost too much.

I think this is the URL for a photo of the space.

The floor will be a light 16 x 16 tile and the woodwork is red oak. The pic is from the deeper end looking towards the narrower end. The 1/2 circle window is above (out of the picture), and is the full width of the space. The shower is to the right, and there's 3' between the front of the linen closet and the shower.

I like the idea of seating with storage. Any other thoughts?

Overall, a bathroom must be nice but taking advantage of each space. In other words, what we call smart design

A seat space may look OK, but I don't think that it will be useful
This is a DIY idea I saw few weeks ago in a design expo
Get a dresser combining with the style of your bathroom. It can be an old piece of furniture, even used. You can paint it and set it as the focal point of your bathroom
In a store specialized in storage or even in Ikea, buy a bench and table sliding set, with legs. As a matter of fact, they are multipurpose sliding boards. installing them at different heights inside the cabinet (one as a bench and other as a low table) you will get a perfect setting for a bench + pedicure foot spa

Something like this

Thanks for the ideas, but I'm having trouble picturing boards that slide out of the cabinet. I would think they would block the walkway, but again, I'm having trouble visualizing how it would work.

Hi sweir,

The main idea is--> you open the doors and slide out the boards (imagine drawers inside the doors)
Of course the boards will be out while you are using them
