scratched corian

Bought some sheet remnants on the cheap, and have two questions:

How do I find out which color I have?

How do I remove the tougher scratches and buff it to a matte/satin finish? I dont care for a high gloss appearance, just 'normal' is fine, as long as the scratches come out. pics to follow. In other words, is there a progression of sandpaper grits I can follow to give it a matte finish? Ive seen the schedule for a high gloss, but dont want that.

What twelve said. Corian, and other solid surface materials are easy to fix scratches. But care must be used to do it correctly. The color goes all the way thru so don't worry about the color changing. Do not stay in one spot with the sander. Follow directions and all should be OK. A matte finish is normal, high gloss can be obtained, but is nearly impossible to maintain.

Most Corian has matte finish. High gloss tends to show scratches.

so you're saying my sheets of corian should already have the matte finish on them? They dont look that way, in fact, they look polished. No signs of being mounted previously. Even edges are unfinished. I went to Lowes tonight to look at their samples of corian on a wall display, and couldnt see anything that matched mine. I'll try to post a pic later in the morning. maybe it will ring a bell for someone. I need to get the right color epoxy and sealer.

I guess Im at a loss for what product to use to sand away these scratches, as they're fairly deep. Some are superficial, but there are some that are pretty substantial. Ive heard a guy can use green scotch pads, like you use to clean pans. Can anyone else recommend something on the list at DuPont's website, above? Something that worked aggressively?
