Painting trim the same color as walls

Any thoughts on if it would be ok to paint the trim the same color as the walls? I am painting a small home office which has one window. I was thinking it may make the room look a little bigger if I don't paint the trim a different color. I don't think I have ever seen this done though not sure I have looked specifically when over peoples houses.


Does anyone have ideas on this?

Welcome to the forums!

That used to be done all the time and probably still is on some of the less expensive housing. You don't want to use the same paint on the woodwork that you use on the walls. The trim should be painted with enamel [any sheen]

Depends a lot of the type of room, lighting, style, etc.

For example, if you have a modern style office, with chromed furniture, then a white trim over white walls will look great. But if the style of the office is clasic, with heavy wood furniture, then a white trim over white walls will look odd.

In order to set an image here follow these easy steps-->
1 - upload your picture to a free online photoalbum like Photobucket or Flickr , for example
2 - Look for the link of your picture (usually, photoalbums provide a "link for a forum" script) --> copy the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located),
3 - In the DIY Forum--> Reply post or open a new post--> Press the 'Insert Image' icon above and paste the link--> or type [img] before the URL and [/img] after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image

Attached are the pics of the room. I have a small desk armoire which is a very light wood color. That will be the only wood piece in the room. I also have two cream color fabric chairs. The rest of the decor will be black/silver colors. Maybe a black framed mirror to make the room look bigger.

From the chromatic point of view, a white on white set is not bad for an office, or perhaps you can think about some gray hue
However, from the decoration point of view and considering the floor, I'd suggest a marble / clear cream combination with the window trim and shade
