colourful sofas?

hey guys, what's the general opinion on using quite bold and colourful sofas?? do you have to keep the rest of the room quite subtle and plain to balance it out?

well, i'm going to be doing up a few living rooms, and wanted to steer away from the boring brown/cream leather, but not sure if that's a bad idea... might be tricky?
