Welcome to the forums!

PT wood is going to be the cheapest wood you can use that will last.

About the only non treated woods that will hold up are cedar, redwood and cyprus.... and then there are the composites but all of these cost considerably more than PT.

If you use fir you can paint it but if you don't keep it painted it will rot in just a few years. Even so I would use PT lumber for joists and posts. If you're not there during the NY winter you won't be able to keep the snow off and that will also encourage rot.

If you don't want to put a lot of money in the deck for just 3 months of yearly use 5/4 PT lumber might be your best bet.
