Wet Deck

I have power washed my deck and am ready to stain it. However, it has been raining all day long. If the weather is good tomorrow, can I go ahead and apply the stain before the wood is completely dry? How dry does the deck need to be?

Thanks!

Jill

Nope..you need to really wait until its dry. If the weather gets better that may only be a few days.

The standard is to apply a drop of water and see how quickly it soaks in...but I'd still probably wait at least 3-4 days if its sunny and warm after it stops raining. Especially since you pressure washed.

Ya, you need to wait until the deck looks and feels dry. Any moisture in the wood can affect how the stain bonds and wears.

almost forgot
