how to clean pen marks off microfiber couch

we purchase a microfiber couch a few months back, today a contractor came to give us a quote on our back yard, and well he had a pen in his back pocket and left a nice 5 inch black pen mark on our couch. Does anyone know the best way to clean this mark off without causing damage to the couch? Your help would be appereciated.

Regards,
Nate

Alcohol (any hard alcohol on hand or dilute methylated spirits for same effect) is safe on microfibre, and recommended for ink stains. You can also use household-strength ammonia.

Microfibre cleaning: http://www.taf.com.cy/main/default.a...emID=5&mid=257

Your microfibre upholstery is likely polyester fibre (only smaller), so it can probably take the same treatments. It's impervious to some powerful solvents, while others melt it. All manner of liquids are sold in polyester containers (e.g. P.E.T.), including most solvents.

Before using ANY solvent or cleaner please check for reactions/compatibility on an inconspicious area before using in an area that will be seen.

If ink was permanent, the mark will tend to be permanent. Rubbing alcohol is very effective for removing nonpermanent ink. Test first in inconspicuous area for ill effects. Blot with white rag from outside stain toward middle to prevent spreading. Microfiber is noted for its stain resistance; thus, if ink is nonpermanent, you should have success.

I found the rubbing alcohol works wonderfully!! I too was in a panic searching for answers, after my two year old daughter attacked our new microfiber couch with an ink pen. With a little extra rubbing it all came out. Thank you guys so much for this website and all the responses!

blot when trying to remove ink or other solvent type spots...rubbing tends to promote migration of the spot to extend the size of it

You're all lifesavers

Wanted to say thanks. This worked great. I was frantically trying to figure out how to remove the ink from my new sofa and was lucky enough to land here.

I used rubbing alcohol and blotted...no more ink mark.

ink on microfiber

The rubbing alcohol worked for me today big time. I ran my ball point pen on my recliner by mistake. Read the advice on this site, took a Q-tip and the ink came off with almost no rubbing at all and it left no "water type mark"..Amazing! Thanks to all who gave this good advice. Orion
