Concrete driveway grey vs white color?

We need to completely replace a damaged driveway with a new concrete driveway. The "historic district commission" that has jurisdiction over our property says we cannot have a "white" concrete driveway. They don't say what color our concrete needs to be -- I assume we need to match the (old) grey color of our old driveway.

How does one avoid a white color and get a grey concrete driveway?

(Which shows how little I know about any of this, I thought all concrete driveways would be grey in color.)

Concrete can be tinted, but for a critical situation use ready mix that the has the pigment mixed in at the plant to insure a uniform color. Hand mixed batches or surface casting is not uniform enough for a critical situation. - You might some people that are accustomed to that type of process since it always worked well.

Use iron oxide pigments. there are many (100's) of different colors (from black to brown, tan red or yellow) that can be blended or increased in strength by different dosage rates.

You will still need a contractor because the finishing and Mother Nature can affect the final appearance.
