Worm gear hose clamps

What can I use as a replacement hose clamp from oem hose clamps. The standard replacement worm gear clamps stink!
They have to be tightened in the fall when outside temps drop because of leaking........oem types don't leak (the compression spring type).
Are the compression spring hose clamps available at the local auto parts store?

What do you hp muscle car guys use on your 500 HP big blocks to prevent leakage at the hose clamps?

Never had a problem with a quality stainless steel worm gear clamp. Get one with either a 1/4" or 5/16" hex drive. You can get them tighter than with a regular screw head. I would never reuse an OEM clamp once it has been removed. I just don't think they have the spring power to hold. Just an opinion.

I have used both kinds. Sounds to me like you need new hoses! Once the rubber gets hard it can crack internally and lengthwise. Either clamp will work on a non pressure hose, but the screw clamp is best for a pressure situation. Don't buy cheap junk!
