86 chevy nova

My daughter was driving her car and it died. We have made sure it has gas and I just replaced the fuel pump but still nothing. I primed the carb. It makes the sound of the starter working but it wont catch. If any one has any ideas I would appreciate it. It was stalling out before, but would always start back up.

Does the engine sound funny when it cranks?

Do you know if and when the Timing Belt was changed?
