I just picked up a rather old dresser with mirror. THe dresser is solid wood with the exception of a veneer top. The veneer has a few scratches and water stains. Is it possible to lightly sand and stain to match the rest of dresser?

Bleaching will work better on the water stains, but, yes, you should be able to match colors with the rest of the piece.
