I received a formica table that I'd like to paint, gloss or flat doesn't matter to me. However, I'm wondering if there will be any problems with this. I do plan on putting a piece of cut glass on the top as well. I want to choose a bright color.

The table needs to be sanded with 100 grit paper. Apply a good primer, such as BIN or KILZ. Then the paint of your choice, latex or oil, gloss or flat.

Let it dry completely (several days for oil) before installing the glass top.

Be sure to have your dealer provide a piece of glass with polished edges - you don't need to get cut!

I would also suggest the standoff stickers (usually felt or rubber) to let the glass sit above the surface, as opposed to directly on it.
