hi all,
not a repair question, just some advise if possible.
i need to get a used gas oven, (i agreed to do it, as i'd be waiting months before the landlord got around to it) and i know nothing about gas appliances---would someone be able to give me a check-list of things i need to ask and check out?
i'm not looking for anything fancy (especially since the landlord's paying), just a reliable working oven that won't die on me within 6 months. any advise would be greatly appreciated
thanx
jen

Hello Jen. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

The question is valid and rather difficult to answer. Other than cosmetically appearing in good condition, much has to do with it's age, features, options, prior useage and size.

It has to fit the alloted space, the oven door has to close tightly and the appliance has to have all it's parts. Depending upon it's age, up to a point, used appliances to not hold much of there orginal value.

There is no guarantee that any used appliance purchased in a private sale, will provide trouble free service for any time period.

Since the appliance will remain under the ownership of the landlord, your options and most likely available spending dollars will be limited. Hence your choices.

Regards & Good Luck

Would be something to look for, standing pilots can use $5.00 a month/ $60.00 is wasted gas :(

Most newer stuff all have electrinic ignition.

Having a seperate broiler is sweet instead of having to use the broiler on the bottom..

You should be able to get a decent one for under $100.00 (I paid $15.00 for mine at a church bazaar)
