Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - laminate floors

I live in an apartment condo with a concrete floor base. I originally wanted to put cork tile in my bathrooms and kitchen but the cost is prohibitive.
Standing on the floor for any length of time is very hard on the legs, especially in the kitchen. I am considering changing my flooring choice to laminate hardwood. Is there some way to create a cushioning under the floor to make it easier to stand on?

Molly, there are some expensive acoustic underlays that are sponge rubber. They're great but not for tired legs, they're great for noise and add a little cushion but not what you are looking for. There is a cork laminate called Moderna in Canada, I don't know about Winnapeg that may work but a hard surfaced floor is a hard floor. Your best bet is an industrial, ugly black or grey, rubber mat that is made for the purpose that you wish to satisfy. They are available from several types of suppliers such as bar supply and industrial supply houses. "Anti-Fatigue" Mats are available in 3', 5' and 8' lengths that are 27" wide either 3/8" or 5/8" thick and range in price from about $25 to $70.
