Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - Baseboard molding

I just had new laminate floors installed and am now starting to install approx. 4 inch baseboard. My kitchen floor is approx 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch lower than my entranceway floor, so on one wall where these two floors meet, I am trying to figure out how to cut an "outside" corner so make the molding match or at least look acceptable. Is there any way to make the molding match up at this corner other than ripping the baseboard that will be installed along the higher floor to lower it to match the other baseboard? I don't want to do that because I want to use the 4 inch baseboard around the rest of the entranceway (the higher floor) walls.

Have you considered doing the 1X4" (actually 3/4"X3.5") in the entrance way, and then matching the kitchen baseboard level with the top of it?
Your kitchen baseboard would be 1/2" to 3/4" wider (whatever it is), but it would match all around in a level (top) appearance.
An alternative would be to cut a transition piece of baseboard that angles at the corner from the top of the upper level 1X4" baseboard down to the top of the 1X4 kitchen level. You could do this by turning a piece of the 1X4 vertically and scribing it from one to the other level.
Personally, I would go with the first choice, and just rip down 1X6s to meet the kitchen floor level. Since I can't see what you're working with, it's hard to say what would look best.
Your call. Just a couple of ideas.

Mike has the right idea. However, pictures are worth a thousand words. Here's an exampe of what I did in my house. The wood flooring is in the dining area and carpeting in the living.

Thanks Mike and Ken - great ideas that I would not have thought of. I'll have to take a look at it again after work and figure out the best method. I appreciate your input.
