I have a 1984 Honda 250R and I am having carb problems.When I am driving it fast it blows fuel out the overflow on the carb.Does anyone have an idea why it is doing this and how I can repair it?
It is a 2 cycle engine.

It only does it when driving fast? I am not so well-versed on ATV and motorcycle engines as I am on lawn equipment type engines. Does it have reed valves? Maybe they are not sealing well. There are others who frequent this forum who are more knowledgeable about these kinds of engines. Maybe they can help you better than I. Sounds at first like a bad needle valve, but I don't know why it would only overflow when running fast.

THANK YOU for your reply cheese I only noticed it when I was driving it fast and then shut it off there was fuel leaking out the overflow and yes it does have reed valves.It seems to run fine but the only problem is the leak.

If it is leaking when it is shut off, then replace the needle and seat, or the float if it is full of gas.

I think you need to check the float level. I'm guessing it's too high. Typically, the float level should be set so that when the carb is held upside down with the float bowl removed, the floats are level (or parallel to) the float bowl gasket surface. It's a good starting point anyway. I hope this helps.
