We're planning on installing hardwood floors in the upstairs of our home, including the stairs. These are straight stairs, 16 of them. It would be quite a fall if one were to slip on them. I have two children who constantly run up and down the stairs and I'm wondering if there's any way to increase the traction short of installing carpeting or a runner. This is especially a problem since we'll probably have a no-shoe policy and walking down the stairs in socks will only be worse. Is there any type of subtle tread that can be installed? Will using a matte finish wood on the stairs help? Thanks for the info . . . amz
