The hardwood floor at my grandma's house have yellow stains near the walls at multiple locations. She told me the stains appeared just 6 months after the floor was installed. The hardwood floor is whitewashed/bleached, probably oak.

What might have caused those stains and could it be in the finish? The stains are pretty bright yellow and appear only at the edges. How might I go about removing the stains?
