My central air has been running and running. Thermostat is set at 78 or 79 . It will also run for a very few minutes , then stop, then run again. I changed the thermostst and it wouldn't work. The fan only ran, no ac. So I put the old thermostat back on and began to tighten to the wall and the thermostat started working! I called an ac electrician an he said it was the relay switch. Can you help ? The ac unit is a Coleman brand, model #3500A816. It's in a mobile home. Where is the relay switch any way? Would that cause the thermostat not to work or to work erratic?

With the changes made, something that you did...even moving a wire... may have fixed it.
The relay is a small black box in the air handler. The green wire from the stat is connected to it to bring the fan on for ventilation or cooling.
