I have a 3 ton unit with the blower in the attic. The unit in the attice felt very warm and was not cooling the house at all. The supply lines in the attic are six inches wide and the blower is only 1/2 hp. My house face the sun in the morning and evening. I have double pane windows. Do i need a bigger system, 4 or 5 tons with a bigger blower and supply lines ?

what you need to do is find out the living space square ft and then divide that by 400 and what you come up with is the aprox. tonnage you need or you can hire some one to do a heat load of your house and they can tell you
say you have a 2000sf home you divide that by 400 and get 5 so you can say you need about a 5 ton unit
