My blower starts when I give it a squirt of gas in the air cleaner. Then it dies. The primer is not filling with gas when I try to pump it. Can someone tell me how the fuel system works on these? Thanks

Hello 10X. Welcome to our Do-It-Yourself Web Site and our Small Engine forum.
There may not be any fuel getting to the carb. Remove the fuel hose from the carb and check for fuel flow.
There should be a weighted fuel filter inside the fuel tank. The filter could be clogged up and needs to be replaced. If the filter isn't inside the fuel tank, it may be in the fuel line system or else where.
There could be two fuel lines in the tank. One supplies fuel to the carb primer while the other line returns unused fuel from the primer. Either line could be gummed up.
The carb may be gummed up from fuel left in the fuel system, etc. Old fuel turns stale and gums up the entire fuel system and carb. If this is the case, the entire fuel system needs to be cleaned out and the carb cleaned and new cark rebuilding parts installed per the instructions with the parts.
Most likely I have not covered all of the potential possibilities. The other resident small engine service and repair professionals may offer additional suggestions, advice & help.

Thanks Tom for the quick reply. I do have 2 line in the tank. I did suspect the filter, but if I take it out of the tank it looks almost impossible to replace. Any tips there. I was told there is no rebuild kit for my walbro carb. Only a $35 replacement.

There are kits...but $35.00 is not bad to avoid the worry and hassle of rebuilding the carb. Try this...Remove both lines from the carb. Push the primer bulb while holding your finger over one of the fittings that the lines connect to. One should suck in air when you let off the primer, one should blow out air when you push the primer. If it does one, but not the other, I would disassemble the carb and clean it out. Especially the small filter screen inside the carb.
