I have been building on my home for about 4months. I need to run the duct work for the central unit before I insulate the walls and put the sheetrock up. Is there a book I can purchase that will guide me on airflow, size ducts and R-factor for the ducts before I go for it? I plan on having the Mechanical installed next month, but meanwhile, I will have everything ready for the guys when they show up. Some of the duct work will be run between floors, so I need to run it now. Thanks Paul

a ductulator to determine size of pipe needed, generally, 90 cfm for 6 inch, 220 for 8 inch, who sized your unit? they could tell you needed airflow. if using flex duct, use the highest r value available, if hard pipe use 2 inch wrap. be sure outlets are placed by heat load, windows doors, etc.
