How do you magnetize tools?

Store them with a magnet. The bigger the magnet, the quicker they'll become magnetic themselves.

Which means, of course, that any tools you don't want to be magnetic shouldn't be stored with a magnet, or even any other magnetic tools.

Or a qiucker way is to wrap a wire around the tool ( metal ) several times, hold one end of the wire on the neg or pos of a good 12 volt source and drag the other end across the other terminal/lead, just letting the wire arc a few times to temporarily magnetize the tool, such as a screwdriver. Do not run constant voltage! Just let it arc a few times.

Boman is correct... but please make sure you're properly insulating yourself during the procedure :)
