How do I get my cut flowers (like roses) to last longer once I've cut them??? I've heard of putting a little sugar in the water (once also heard bleach?!!?!?) does this really work? What is the best method???

For roses I once heard of putting the stem in boiling water for a couple of seconds. After that you can put them in their normal fresh water. They should last longer. I never tried it though.

Hi Nikkylee,

Here's a site with some tips -

I've never tried the bleach or sugar, but it's recommended in this site, and I've heard others say it works.

thank you! I'm no where near a gardner.... but lately my flowers have been blooming and with it being summer friends have been coming over... so we wanted to enjoy the flowers indoors as well as outdoors! Thanks so much for your advice and the site!

I have always put an asprin in the water with my cut flowers. I don't know what it does but they seem to last longer!
