Question: Built 52ft deck onto my home, we live on the side of a mountain. The height on one end of the deck from the deck to the ground is about 6 ft. 5 in., and at the other end is about 5 ft. 4 in. What is the best way to install the lattice, it comes in 4 by 8 panels, and 4ft is too short turning the panel one way and turning it the other way cutting it would waste too many panels. Do I put panels up all the way down the deck and then cut the remaining and use a trim board to cover it up or do I use a 1 by 12 at the top and then a board at the bottom. I don't know if by cutting it that it will not look very good or will it. I would appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, lattice work has a huge amount of scrap. In my current project, I am installing 6' lattice privacy fence on a 166" side. Well, using four posts would mean 50 2/3" wide, so that wont work. Five posts gives me a width of 37 1/8". After subtracting the top and bottom trim , the height of each panel is only 64 1/2". So I buy 48X96 panels, cut them down to 37 1/8X64 1/2. For the bottom screening around the deck, I need about 55 feet of running lattice work. Problem is the grade slopes out from the house, and from left to right quite a bit. That means none of my pieces will be square and the leftovers will be hard to fit and most likely turn to scrap.
