I have old, dark wood furniture and I'd like to paint it bright white and add painted details to the front portion of the drawers. Can you give me the steps necessary to begin this project?

If you want to do this the best way is to strip the furniture, pirme it and then paint it. You can prime over existing poly but you will first need to sand it so that you get maximum adhesion. If you don't what ends up happening is the paint will peel especially if there is any moisture in the air. I tried taking short cuts before and it does not work.
