:) I have just removed wallpaper from a hallway wall. I would like to know the correct preping procedures before texturing. Should I apply a primer before applying the texture. There is bare drywall, I have sanded some of the remaining wallpaper glue. I have removed the dust with a wet towel. What other preping procedures do you recommend?

All wallpaper adhesive should be removed and walls properly cleaned and repaired. A primer like BIN is recommended to assure proper adhesion. There are textured paints available. There are other methods of texturing walls, such as using drywall mud. You will also need to decide what technique you will use to achieve the textured look that you want. You might want to practice on cardboard before beginning the project.

I myself have just gone through this process and it is allot of work. I hope you removed the glue with hot water and you do have to scrape. The sanding alone will not work. If the glue is still there it will come through on your paint. It bubbles up even with a good primer. I can't stress enough how important it is to get it all off. Once this is done then after sanding (use a revolutionary sander) you again have to wash the walls and let them dry. Then apply your primer. You are obviously going to Faux your walls. What technique are you using? If you are talking a texture then I am assuming that you are using a glaze with your paints which means ragging or sponging. Might I suggest looking into the Woolie at woolie.com. There are many Faux techniques and this website can make your life allot easier.
