I have a Lennox furnace with a carrier ac unit.

My problem is not enough air gets to the 2nd floor to cool properly.

My thinking is if I increase the size of the pully on the blower motor then the fan will move more air. It would only be a small increase in pulley size.

Is this stupid? Any other ideas?

is increased with a bigger pulley on the motor, but keep an eye on amp draw, too big a puley will burn up the motor. you may have an adjustable pulley, which would screw together to give a larger diameter. hope that helps

The best way to cool the upstairs is to adjust the registers downstairs. Simply close some of them off. I would't change the pully, but you could undersize some of the registers on the lower level.
