My family has a home on the coast and have had tremendous problems finding a paint that will withstand the salt air. We have read and put into practice all of the advice about preparing the wood and using what we believe is a high quality paint (Ben. Moore) but we still have to paint the house every 2 years or so. Is there a paint that you can recommend that is the best at withstanding the elements on the coast? Many thanks.

Check a Consumer Reports magazine. Your local library should have back copies. They rate all paints. Ben.Moore should do the job. Maybe check with neighbors - they experience the same conditions. Painting every 2 years maybe the price of living on the coast! I'll trade with you ;)

Thanks Rich. I'll check Consumer Reports. There has to be a more resilient paint that will last at least 4-5 years. Ben Moore just isn't cutting it.
