counterbore 1 1/4" holes roughly 1/2' deep and then predrill 5/ 16' holes
2 every 2'
fill the holes with silicone 35 year caulk before you put the lags in so its watertight
use 3/8 lags with flat washers to lag into the rim joist of the house.
look for metal "z" channel 1 1/2' wide to go overtop of the rim joist to help deflect water away from the lag bolt holes. Ive done this and so far no problems.
Hope this helps--Josh
