Hi, I have a Mitsubishi CS-35301, its a 35" tv with PIP that I bought at a pawn shop. TV has worked fine for months but occasionally it would just turn off for no reason and not turn back on until I unplugged it and pressed the power button a few times while unplugged, when I plugged it back in it would work fine again for months, then it started happening more often and pregressed until I can now not even get it to stay on for a full min before it turns off. Anyone know the cause of this and how it can be repaired?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

GrayMan, Sounds like that television is going into shutdown. Possibly the flyback transformer may have internal damage causing the television to shutdown. The shutdown is a safety circuit which protects the television if their is a problem in the power supply, horizontal and high voltages sections of the television. Their is also another possiblity of cracked solder joints and or a fractured circuit board in and around the area of the flyback transformer due to this television being dropped or knock over. You said you bought this television used and theres no telling what abuse the former owner(s) put this television through. Are you planning to repair this television yourself?

I would like to repair it myself, but I doubt thats an option. I suppose the real question is if its worth the cost of repair vs the cost of a new set. And if tv repair service people typically make housecalls as this is a huge set to move downstairs and into car, etc. Thanks for the responce.

Check for bad caps in the switching power supply, most likely you will find one that has leaked onto the power board.
