Painting a flexible substrate is a temporary measure. The floor will 'give' and flex beneath the paint and the paint may crack or peel over time, but as a temporary fix, sure. I'd scuff the linoleum with 120 grit paper, then a TSP wash and clean water rinse, let dry. Prime with Bullseye 1-2-3 or Moore's Fresh Start acrylic bonding primer. The two thin coats of a latex floor paint. You could also paint it directly with oil floor paint but it is more brittle and more likely to crack over the softer substrate.
