I have a 7yr old Zenith 27" TV that is experiencing picture problems. When the set is first turned on, the screen colors are missing either Red, Green, or Blue. After some time the screen flashes the missing color over the complete screen. At this time the colors are back to normal. The amount of time the colors are abnormal is intermittent. Any ideas? FYI, model # SM2789BT8, and I have a friend with a similar Zenith TV same year with same problem.

theck99, Zenith's are known for picture tube problems but, before we condemn the picture tube, remove the back cover (unplug the television first of course). Their will be a circuit board mounted on the neck of the picture tube. This is your crt (or video) board. Take a flashlight and look very closely at the solder joints on the board. Look for solder joints that are cracked, burnt or discolored (will look a dull grayish color). Post back and let me know what you found. Also, are their any popping sounds coming from inside the television when the missing color return?
