This is a six cd player in which a cartridge is loaded with the cds and placed in a slot from which the cds are played. My stereo is not reading the cds as being present, and also reads the cd number differently from the one being checked, as can be seen in the window of the cartridge. Your help on this is appreciated.

Sounds like a processor or loading IC failing. Could be it has jumped time a tooth. Or a switch going bad. To be honest it’s not worth repair.
