Hello!

I have a 1920-ish bedroom suite of walnut burlwood veneer that really needs your help!

The previous owner apparently had a flood so it sat in water, weakening the already fraglie spindly legs. They had small wheels on them and were perhaps an 3/4" diameter, getting slightly larger as they went up.

Now they have broken off and I'm wondering what to do. I can't afford a total overhaul, but am wanting to salvage it so it's useful and still pretty. The "value" was lost long ago. Now I just like it and want to keep using it.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Tonie

Tonie:

You mention a suite - but seem to be talking about one particular piece - what is it?

I have a bed, which I don't expect can be fixed, a dresser with a mirror and a vanity which has a mirror in the center and two adjustible ones (they swing inward and outward) with drawers on both sides.

They all have the broken leg(s) issue. I took pictures of them to a shop and they estimated $5-7,000.00 to restore/fix all three pieces. Just can't do that.

The wood is quite brittle, and I'm not confident enough to try much myself. I'd hate to make it completely un-useable. They really are pretty pieces...curvy and decorative.

Thanks for your help!
