The quarter inch panel mount audio jacks, I want to use one for a microphone. What is the difference between an open circuit one and a closed circuit one and which one is the one to use?

Normally closed would be when you plug in the headset/mic you disable the other speakers/mic working too. Normally open is the opposite of course. I need more information as to what you are doing before I can advise what to use…
